What is the Doris Difference ?

There is more to wellness than the image of a thin white woman with defined abs that buys all organic food. There is nothing wrong with this person or body BUT "health" (however that is defined for you) and trusting yourself and your own body and yourself around food is unique to YOU. I want to be the coach to help you feel confident in your body, free around food and finally find that balance between the two to live life on your own terms.

I don’t believe in or advocate "clean eating," juice/food cleanses or food detoxes, and elimination diets. I’m not your gal if you are looking for a new diet or preprogrammed meal or fitness plan. I believe all bodies are good bodies. I believe food is food and there is no “junk” food but simply food that is more or less nutrient dense. Simple. I won’t tell you what to do, when to do it or how. We won’t work towards a “shape” for your body or “goal weight” either. But what we will do is help you to feel better in your body and mind through challenging your inner critic to tame that negative narrative. I will guide you through coaching so you feel more comfortable and freer around food. This way you can have that ice cream or bag of chips in the house and not feel like you have to hide it from yourself and also be able to make meal choices that are best for you, talk about empowering! I can incorporate mindful movement options that we choose together to assist in body acceptance, body awareness and accelerate self-love while relearning self-care in a new way that I will show you in such a way that can be fun.

As your Mind-Body Fitness Coach, I listen and guide you and I don't give you a pre-packaged book and tell you, YOU CAN DO IT! (I totally know you can), but you need more than a cheerleader! This work is not easy but it’s worth it! I'm going to support, encourage, inspire, skill build, teach you how to hold yourself accountable and build new muscles inside and out around your new confident self.
This work is not just about investing in something that works short-term - it's about gaining and developing skills and inner muscles for you to finally live the way you deserve to. Life gives us distractions, obstacles, and tough times so training these new muscles and convictions so that when things do get hard because they will, you can work through it with confidence.

How often do you meet with your personal training clients?

All clients have different needs, wants, goals, budgets and lifestyles therefore how often we meet for session is determined on many variables. During our initial consultation we discuss our schedules and availability and decide together on your optimal session schedule.

What can I expect with your personal training services?

Taking the step to hire a personal trainer is an important one and for some a big one that might be exciting and overwhelming at the same time. When you hire me as your trainer we become a team.

We start by meeting for a consultation where we sit together for a conversation to get to know each other to ensure we are a good fit for this process, discuss your medical history, fitness history, current lifestyle, your goals, needs, wants, etc. Together we review our schedules and availability to review options for training sessions. We work together over a series of sessions where I teach you your customized exercise program that is tailored to your specific goals. As we move through your sessions we adjust as necessary, progress your exercises to keep you challenged in the right ways for you and ensure that safety is of the paramount focus. During your 60 minute sessions, I guide you through teaching you breathing, alignment, technique, form, pacing, and educate you on the mind-body connection and other appropriate topics related to your specific goals. Sessions are choice-based, meaning you choose your level of participation based on your energy and comfort level, you are in control of your body and choices at all times.

Where do you offer your services?

I offer my services at the Cornwall Town Hall, 39 Lowther Drive in a private setting. The Cornwall Town Hall is located on tobacco-free grounds and the building is accessible and follows a scent-free policy.

What is email coaching?

Email coaching is a great addition and perfect complement to your personal training sessions to ensure you stay inspired, on track and give you an opportunity to ask me questions on a regular basis in between your sessions. I offer monthly email coaching packages that give you unlimited email access to ask me questions, reach out to me when you feel unmotivated, are presented with obstacles, and anything else you need my assistance with to support your fitness and wellness goals. The fee is $120.00 to be paid prior to the 30-day start date by e-transfer. This service is exclusive to existing clients. Stay tuned for future online services launching at later dates.
